NCR Trail – Image and Classes

NCR Trail – Image and Classes – This image was taken in August of 2012.

The location is on a bridge over the Gunpowder Falls and near the 6 mile marker. The view is looking North Westward and down stream. For the hiker, biker, runner or horse rider there is a bench to allow for a break and moment to take in the view.

The NCR Trail was once home of the Northern Central Railroad. This was a Class 1 or local/regional railroad. Looking at documentation there can be some argument as to the meaning of the classes of railroad. Class of railroad has been defined by the government and by associations and has changed over the years!

Regardless of how the railroad was classified, the views from the trail, make this a Class 1 trail in my book! Get out and enjoy our rail trails!

This is a view looking West from the NCR Trail (Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail) at about the 6 mile marker. In Maryland, the NCR Trail is also known as The Northern Central Railroad Trail and the Torrey C. Brown Rail Trail.
