Kayak – Journey into Kayaking
On Saturday August 30, 2014, we went to Dundee Creek at Gunpowder Falls State Park, Maryland and rented Recreational Kayaks (Eskimo Canoes) for our first time.
Mike from Ultimate Watersports, provided us with an introduction. How to get in and out, how to paddle, where to go, water levels, and the kinds of wildlife we might be seeing on our introductory voyage.
We rented single sit in kayaks. Two of us had the Old Town Dirigo 120 Kayak and one of us had the 140 Kayak. They made for a very stable and nice ride!
We started out in the shallow Dundee Creek area and then ventured out into deeper waters. Since this was our first time, we were not paying a great deal of attention to wildlife, although we did get a look at a turtle, a duck and an osprey!
We were out for about 3.5 hours. We had a great time.
