Train – Heritage Rail Trail Park of York, Pennsylvania
Hikers walking the Heritage Rail Trail Park between the 1.25 and 10.5 mile markers can often be presented with a passing train.
The train is part of the Steam into History organization which starts out at the train station located in New Freedom Pennsylvania.
The train can be seen on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday depending on schedule and time of year.
I frequently walk the 3-5 mile markers several times a week so I get to witness the train going by.
Sometimes it may pass 3 times during my walk.
The train may pass with the Diesel Locomotive or the replica 17 Locomotive.
The locomotive pushes the rail cars (outbound) Northbound from New Freedom to Seitzland, Glen Rock or Hanover Junction depending on the schedule.
