Amateur Radio 2020 Shack – AB3BO
January 2020
The two base rigs are the TS-2000 and the TS-480HX by Kenwood.
The TS-2000 is connected to a dipole through an SGC SG-239 Smarttuner (tuner).
The tuner is located outside under a sunroom deck and a cable goes up to the dipole antenna.
The TS-480 is connected to a horizontal delta Loop through an SGC SG-239 Smarttuner.
The tuner is located outside under a sunroom deck and a cable goes up to the delta loop antenna.
I use a Heil Pro Set 6 headset for voice operations on HF Sideband (up to 100 watts) and VHF/UHF FM.
There are two external speakers used with the TS-2000 and TS-480 rigs. They are from a long gone stereo phonograph and tape deck.
For Software, Ham Radio Deluxe 6.6.0.236 (HRD) is installed on an HP workstation.
HRD is used with preset connection definitions for controlling the TS-2000 and TS-480 rigs.
WSJT-X v2.0.1 7ddcb7 is used for FT8 operations.
WSJT-X configurations are used to allow for operation switching between rigs.
Logging is done to LOTW using TQSL 2.5.1 and the log file created by WSJT-X.
Logging is also done to EQSL using an edited WSJT-X log file.
When working calls on WSJT-X, I usually have QRZ and PSK Reporter going to view the call info and to
see how I am getting out (on the band being worked).

There are 3 hotspots located in the house. They consist of Jumbo Spot MMDVM boards and Raspberry Pi 3b 3b and 3b+ boards. Each hotspot is set to operate one digital mode. They all are running Pi-STAR.
The hotspots use Smartplugs connected to AC adapters. This allows me to turn the hotspots on and off remotely when needed!
A fourth hotspot (Jumbo Spot MMDVM with a Raspberry PI Zero W) is located in my truck.
It has 3 SD cards which are changed out depending on which HT is taken along in the truck.
I also operate Echolink and CQ100 in the shack using the HP work station and a Blue Yeti microphone.
A Boom was recently added to the microphone to make operating easier.
My current projects are organizing the HT Deck/Desk and working on an ALLSTAR Link.
For the HT Deck/Desk, I am disposing of junk and organizing cables.
For the Allstar Link, I am gathering parts and brain cells.
