Tracks Appear Empty – Southbound View – Hanover Junction

Tracks Appear Empty

while sitting at a bench on the Porch of the train station at the Village of Hanover Junction.

Temperature was in the upper 80’s.

About three quarters of a mile down the tracks a flagger waits for the train to cross at Schafers Church Road.

To bide his time he observes mayflies resting on the rails.

In the background Roosters could be heard sounding off as the morning moves on!

Further on down the track a man, and woman walk the Heritage Rail Trail Park while a child checks out the scenery along the way.

On this day June 18, 2015 the Steam Into History is due into Hanover Junction a little later on in the day.

In 1861 it was Abraham Lincoln who was due into Hanover Junction on his way to Gettysburg.

Check out some  information on the history and politics involved at Jim McClure’s history blog.
