NCR Trail – Railroad Bridge – Evidence of the Railroad

shows on this old bridge over the Little Falls in White Hall. This part of the trail and bridge are at the sharp bend of Graystone Road and the NCR 11.25 mile marker.

Trains stopped crossing this bridge back in 1972. Tropical storm Agnes wiped out much of the railroad track. Cost to restore and slow down on the use of the railroad, made it impractical to continue operation.

From what I have read in the late 1800s there was over 300,000 tons of coal a year that traveled over this bridge! (History of Baltimore City and County By John Thomas Scharf)
